The Orlando Sanchez Plan for the Harris County Comeback

Fight to Slash Property Tax Rates

Only Orlando Sanchez has the experience in both business and local government to clean up the mess created by Courthouse Liberals.  He’ll restore Sanity to Harris County Government on DAY ONE.

Prioritize Public Safety and Keep Criminals In Jail

The judicial revolving door that too many Liberal Judges have created MUST END through mandatory sentencing guidelines and reducing the amount of discretion allowed when it comes to repeat offenders or egregious crimes against our Citizens.

Deliver Flood Relief and Disaster Recovery

Hurricanes Harvey and Beryl and other major tropical storms are no longer uncommon occurrences.  Long term planning and better plans with regional cooperation being an absolute must are what Orlando will demand of government at all levels.  On this issue, Orlando will help Harris County, and often forgotten communities like Kingwood, because he understands best what is at stake and at risk.

Restore Fiscal Sanity to the Commissioners Court

Orlando will end unnecessary travel and reprioritize spending to essentials and basic services that Harris County Taxpayers demand and deserve.

Support Governor Abbott’s 5 Point Plan for Property Tax Relief

Governor Abbott will need strong leadership from local government to get this initiative through the Legislature to bring about real property tax reform.  Orlando will work hand in hand with the Governor to bring real lasting property tax relief to Texans.

Statement by Orlando Sanchez on Houston ISD

I am proud to celebrate the remarkable progress made by Houston ISD students, educators, and school leaders since the state takeover.  Academic performance has improved across key metrics, more students are reading on grade level, graduation rates have risen, and chronic absenteeism has declined, with both students and teachers.  These gains reflect dedicated work in the classroom and a renewed focus on fundamentals that put children first.  Houston families deserve credit for their resilience, and the reforms implemented have delivered tangible results for our kids.

As I recognize these achievements, I also believe the time is drawing near for a thoughtful transition back to greater local governance.   Houston ISD’s elected Trustees should begin rotating back onto the Board in a structured, responsible manner that protects the hard-won gains, while restoring community voice and accountability. Strong public education thrives when it is both effective and locally connected.  HISD must maintain strong centralized leadership to manage district expectations.  Ensuring that student achievement is the number one priority is paramount.

I especially urge the business community to double down on its commitment to quality public education.  A thriving HISD is essential to a skilled workforce, safe neighborhoods, and a competitive Houston economy.  Employers, chambers of commerce, and industry leaders have a vital stake in ensuring every Houston child receives a world-class education that prepares them for success.

Together, we can all build on the progress of the past several years and secure a brighter future for every student in Houston ISD.  Our children have shown what is possible when adults set high expectations and work in partnership.  Let us now come together – parents, educators, trustees, elected officials, and business leaders, to build upon the successes and deliver the excellent public schools our community demands and deserves.
