As an immigrant, who built a life in Texas through hard work and opportunity, I am deeply troubled by Bo French’s recent social media post targeting Longhorn fans celebrating an amazing victory.
Those young people in burnt orange weren’t a “problem.” They look like me and they could be my relatives. They were Texans celebrating a hard-fought victory. Judging fellow Americans by the color of their skin or assuming they’re “foreigners” simply because they don’t look like you is wrong, un-American, and has no place in our party or our state.
Texas is strongest when we unite around the shared values of hard work, opportunity, and love of this great state, not when we divide based on appearance.
All I see is burnt orange. The people look like me.
